    Librarian – Technical Services The New England Institute of art is seeking a Technical Services Librarian to part of a four-person staff in a growing library that serves academic programs in the fields of art, design and communications. This position is responsible for the cataloging and processing of all library materials, and the management of the integrated library system. Duties also include some collection development and tracking of acquisitions, as well as some public service desk coverage. Reports to the Library Director. Performance Responsibilities: • Catalogs and processes Library materials, including both copy and original cataloging, using MARC21, AACR2, LC Subject Headings and Classification schedules. • Manages the integrated library system and other library software, and acts as liaison to the Technology Department. • Assists in the use of library equipment and does basic troubleshooting. • Covers public service desks and provides library instruction when necessary. • Assists with collection development and the tracking of all acquisitions. • Participates in Library facilities planning and policy revision. • Creates reports and assists director in compiling statistics, as needed. • Serves on various college committees. • Other duties as assigned by the Library Director. Position Requirements: • Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution. • 2-3 years of professional technical services experience. • Knowledge of MARC21, AACR2, Library of Congress Subject Headings, and Library of Congress classification schedules. • Hours are currently 9:30am-6:00pm with the possibility of some rotating Saturday hours. Preferred: • Ability to catalog a variety of formats other than monographs, such as serials, slides, and other audiovisual materials. • Familiarity with Marc Magician and with various integrated library systems, especially Athena (Sagebrush Corp.) and Voyager (Endeavor Systems). • Experience with library automation projects and/or integrated library system conversions.
