    Position: Circulation Librarian Miami University Libraries, Oxford, OH, are seeking a personable, self-motivated, service-oriented and flexible team-player for this Assistant Librarian position. Reporting to the Head of Access Services, the Circulation Librarian manages the main library's circulation services (which includes print and digital reserves operations), and assists the Head of Access Services in managing stacks maintenance and interlibrary loan operations. The Circulation Librarian supervises 5 FTE paraprofessionals, one graduate assistant, and 30-35 student employees assigned to circulation services, and assists in the supervision of an additional 5 FTE paraprofessionals, one graduate student, and 10-15 student employees assigned to interlibrary loan and stacks maintenance functions. The main circulation desk is open during all the hours that the main library is open (131 hours per week), is open until 4:00 a.m. five nights per week, and handles a wide range of circulation services (books, keys, study rooms, laptop computers, digital cameras, etc.). Primary Responsibilities: • Supervises daily circulation activities in the main library, • Sets and maintains standards of excellence for circulation services, • Resolves unusual complaints; handles non-routine requests and inquiries, • Maintains and trouble-shoots the circulation module of the libraries’ automated system, serving as liaison to the software vendor (Innovative Interfaces, Inc.) in circulation matters, • Works with and coordinates the main library’s circulation services with circulation service points in other university libraries, as well as with systems and technical services staff regarding integrated library system issues, • Serves as liaison to OhioLINK, the statewide network of libraries, in matters pertaining to circulation of materials among the network members, trouble-shoots unusual problems, coordinates the circulation activities of all university libraries with the state network, • Assists in developing and enhancing the Libraries’ electronic reserve system, • Identifies and develops appropriate assessment approaches, measures and techniques for continuous monitoring and improvement of circulation services, • Contributes to the development of long ranges plan and policies, • Manages the department in the absence of the department head, • Other duties as assigned. Requirements include a graduate library degree from an ALA accredited institution; strong commitment to providing excellent customer service and working with diverse populations; demonstrated facility for applying technology to library services; initiative and ability to conceive and carry out projects; and excellent communication and interpersonal skills; some evening and weekend work will be required. Highly Desirable: academic library experience, preferably in a circulation environment; supervisory experience; familiarity with Innovative Interfaces Inc. Millenium circulation system. Environment: Miami University is located in Oxford, OH, 35 miles northwest of Cincinnati.
