    Electronic Information Services (EIS) Librarian, Information Services Department Miami University Libraries, Oxford, OH, are looking for an energetic, dynamic, flexible, creative, service-oriented librarian with a can-do attitude who has a background in electronic resources, instruction, web development, and public services to fill this Assistant Librarian position. EIS Librarian reports to the Head of Information Services. Responsibilities include and are not limited to: collegial leadership for library-wide, technology based public services initiatives and projects; developing and teaching credit and non-credit courses in information technology and information literacy for university students, faculty, staff, and librarians; coordination of library technology workshops in concert with colleagues; maintaining search and interface functionality of subscription vendors such as Ebsco and FirstSearch; developing and maintaining knowledge and expertise in electronic information services; staffing Research Help (reference), the Center for Information Management, and chat services including nights and weekends; collection development and academic liaison responsibilities as needed. Please see the Miami University Libraries' Professional and Personal Competencies: www.lib.muohio.edu/libinfo/employ/competencies.html Requirements: Graduate library degree from an ALA accredited institution; working knowledge of Unix, Windows and Macintosh operating systems; flexibility including the ability to work independently as well as in cooperation with colleagues, teams, and library users; knowledge of web development and web technologies including HTML, authoring tools, and emerging trends; effective instruction skills; demonstrated analytical, organizational and planning skills; strong oral and written communication skills; initiative and ability to conceive and carry out projects; understanding of research needs and processes in a university library; collegiality and commitment to service; sense of humor and the ability to laugh at oneself. Highly Desirable: Aptitude with technology including technical computer experience, scripting languages such as pHp or Perl, and delivering databases to the web; demonstrated effective work with teams; public services experience in an academic library; instruction experience in traditional library literacy and credit classes incorporating the use of information technology; foundation in the principles of interface design and usability. Environment: Miami University Libraries, Oxford, OH, contain over 1.5 million volumes, have an extensive collection of government documents and microforms, and subscribe to over 10,000 serials and 75 electronic databases available via MiamiLINK, the library web system. They serve 850 teaching and research faculty, 16,000 undergraduates and 1,000 graduate students. The Libraries have 36 professionals and 55 support staff and belong to OCLC, CRL, and OhioLINK.
