Applications are invited for the post of Reference Librarian in the Academic Library at a leading Research Center in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The purpose of the position is to assist with inquiries to the Reference Desk at the UAE Federation Library. The Librarian will also plan and conduct library instruction sessions and tours and participate in development of library reference collections. The incumbent will be responsible for:
Providing reference assistance, answering questions at Reference Desk for a diverse patron group.
Assisting with bibliographic instruction and training.
Consulting and advising on collection development decisions for both print and electronic materials.
Demonstrating ability to plan and support implementation of innovative public services in a special library setting.
Qualifications:
Masters in Library Science, preferably from an American Library Association accredited library school.
Required Skills and Attributes:
Minimum one year post MLS library experience
Familiarity with core reference resources and indexes
Strong oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability and willingness to work with all levels of staff and patrons
Desirable Skills and Attributes:
Experience teaching and performing bibliographic instruction classes for a range of levels of research expertise.
Library experience in a public service capacity.
Demonstrated knowledge of online resources and databases.
Bilingual Arabic and English
Demonstrated subject specialty with electronic resources or government documents.
