    Applications are invited for the post of Bilingual Serials Technician in the Academic Library at a leading Research Center in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The purpose of the position is to support the serials department in identifying, ordering, processing and organizing serials for the U.A.E. Federation Library. Responsibilities will include:  Performing database and print searches in order to identify new titles for the library.  Check-in of new serials as they arrive and maintain accurate statistics for arrivals.  Working with the serials librarian to identify missing items in a timely manner so that they can be replaced.  Shelving and shifting of journals will be involved. Qualifications: Bachelors degree – preferably in Library Science. Some library experience will be preferred. Required Skills and Attributes:  Basic Microsoft Office skills and Internet searching ability  Fluency in English and Arabic.  Detail oriented person who appreciates accuracy and will work according to library procedures.  Knowledge of bibliographic description.  Shifting, shelving and moving large quantities of serials will require a basic level of physical fitness including the ability to lift 20 kg.  An ability to appreciate time and cost sensitive issues.  Enthusiasm and flexibility to carry out other duties as required.
