Radford University seeks a customer service oriented and enthusiastic Coordinator for George Harvey Health Information Resource Center. The Center is a unit of McConnell Library located in the Waldron College of Health and Human Services. The Coordinator administers the operations of the Center, including the specific tasks of developing and evaluating policies and services; hiring, training, and supervising support staff; planning and goal setting; and communicating and promoting the services, resources, and mission of the Center. Supervises one classified staff and 11 student assistants. Provides assistance to Waldron College students and faculty in selecting, evaluating, and using information resources for their teaching and research needs. Works as a team member with faculty, students, and staff of the RU Clinics in evaluating the information needs of clinic clients and their families. Provides individual assistance to clients in selecting, evaluating, and using consumer health information. Works as a team member with Reference/Instruction Librarians from McConnell Library in developing and conducting course-related presentations, workshops, and tutorials for Waldron College students and faculty. Develops and conducts non course-related workshops focusing on Harvey Center resources for clinic clients, grant participants, and general community members. Participates in planning, developing, and evaluating library services and programs as a member of the Library Administrative Council. Position reports to the University Librarian.
Library faculty are twelve-month, non-tenured professional faculty with academic rank and responsibilities for collection development, university service, and professional development/contributions.
Required: ALA-accredited Masters in Library/Information Science. Excellent supervising, planning, organizational, and analytical skills. Proven ability to work collaboratively. Demonstrated initiative and ability to adapt in a changing work environment. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
Preferred: Experience in academic library reference/instruction. Knowledge of medical/health information resources and experience with grant writing and administration.
