Reference and Instruction Librarian
The Feinberg Library at Plattsburgh State University of New York seeks a full
time, one-year temporary reference and instruction librarian for the 2004-2005
academic year.
Responsibilities include: providing proactive reference service (some evenings
and weekends are required) to students, faculty, staff, and community patrons in
person at the library reference desk, over the telephone, via email, and
interactive chat; participating in Information Outreach Unit projects; teaching
course-related instruction sessions as assigned; teaching two (2) sections of a
one-credit course (LIB105) in information & technology literacy in fall and
spring semesters. LIB105 is an eight-week general education course focusing on
the access, retrieval, evaluation and management of information including a
basic introduction to research databases, technology issues and common academic
software. The course meets once a week for 75 minutes.
Qualifications: Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited
institution or equivalent is required. Experience working in an academic
library, providing classroom instruction, and searching online library databases
is strongly preferred.

Academic Rank and Salary: Academic rank of Visiting Assistant Librarian, salary
