    ANNOUNCEMENT: McNeese State University welcomes applications for the position of Reference Librarian. Full-time faculty position with some weekend/evening hours. MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution required. Academic library experience preferred. Salary $30,600 and benefits. Applications accepted until position filled. Participates in bibliographic instruction. Keeps abreast of trends and changes in libraries and librarianship through the reading of professional literature and attending professional meetings, workshops, and conferences. Performs other duties as specified by supervisors. Maintains contact with faculty, students, staff, and other members of the university community, members of the profession, and the general public. SPECIFIC DUTIES: Participates in online searching using a variety of databases. Reviews and recommends titles for the general and reference collections. Maintains reference desk duties during weekend, evening, and other specified times. Participates in library web page design and maintenance. Utilizes emerging online technologies in performing reference duties. Assists in the supervision and training of graduate or student workers. REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution. Official transcripts required at time of hiring. Ability to communicate effectively and work well with library patrons and staff.
