    Salem State College, a comprehensive public liberal arts college located 25 miles from Boston on the historic North Shore of Massachusetts, invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the Library and Instructional and Learning Support. The Dean will provide vision and strong leadership in the planning, budgeting, development and administration of library services and programs, including learning and instructional support services. Serving as the primary administrative advocate for the library, the Dean has oversight of all operations of the library and supervision over not only traditional library functions, but also Instructional Media and the Learning Center which houses, among others, a number of TRIO programs. Fundraising activities and the solicitation of library gifts are also major responsibilities of this position Qualifications include an ALA accredited MLS degree with significant library administration experience, particularly at the policy development level; an earned doctorate in an appropriate discipline; appropriate experience and/or credentials in library automation systems and instructional support technologies and instructional and learning support programs and delivery systems; superb communication and interpersonal skills; and a through knowledge of higher education principles, practices and procedures. Preferred qualifications include a managerial philosophy that fosters shared decision making, proven non-profit fundraising ability, and experience in and commitment to working in a multicultural, multiracial environment with persons of diverse backgrounds.
